ESIC to step up Aadhaar seeding of insured persons and their beneficiaries
What changed
ESIC has found that Aadhaar seeding of insured persons (IPs) and their beneficiaries is unsatisfactory. It has directed its Regional and Sub-Regional Offices to step up the work. Under the Code on Social Security, 2020, Aadhaar-based identification has become more important for accessing medical and cash benefits. Face Authentication Technology (FAT) has also been introduced for Aadhaar authentication.
ESIC offices are to:
- Make full use of the existing Aadhaar-seeding kiosks.
- Hold special Aadhaar-seeding camps with employers in areas and establishments that have many IPs.
- Prioritise cases left incomplete because of demographic mismatches, incorrect details or technical issues.
- Check seeding data employer by employer to find establishments with many pending cases.
- Use FAT where it is applicable and technically feasible.
- Run a one-month, cluster-based intensive drive with set target areas and establishments.
Who it applies to
- Insured persons and their beneficiaries under ESI.
What to do
- IPs and beneficiaries: get your Aadhaar seeded at an ESIC kiosk or camp, and have any mismatch in your details corrected.
Example
An establishment with many IPs whose Aadhaar seeding is pending may be picked for a special camp, held with the employer, so the pending cases can be cleared.
