What employers must give
Paid holidays: the 3 national holidays, and 3 festival holidays under the state's law.
Working on a holiday: Shops and commercial establishments must close on three national holidays a year that the Government notifies. Establishments using the August 2025 exemption must give compensatory leave and double-rate wages for work on national holidays.
What to do
- Give the national holidays, and the festival holidays the state requires, with full pay.
- If someone works on a holiday, pay them or give them another day off, as the rules above say.
- Put up the list of holidays where your staff can see it.
